Highly acclaimed user-friendly functions and superb operability
Multipoint/One-point calibration
The EMGA can be calibrated by conven-
tional multipoint calibration with up to 30
points using either a standard sample or
standard gas. For rough, on-site calibra-
tion where speed is of the essence, sen-
sitivity correction, blank correction and
single one-point calibration are also
available.
Quick calibration from standard sam-
ple analysis
If up to five standard values are stored
in memory prior to commencing the anal-
ysis, it is possible to use analysis results
for calibration purposes simply by slot-
ting a standard sample analysis into rou-
tine analysis work.
Unique inner crucible
The inner crucible mode allows indirect
heating of the sample and makes it easy
to hold any desired temperature. It is par-
ticularly useful for analysing low melting
point metals and for temperature-
programmed analysis.
Automatic mass compensation
If an optional electronic balance is con-
nected to the EMGA, the mass meas-
ured by the balance will be displayed on
the color TFT screen and the operator
need only press the keyboard to input
these data for automatic mass compen-
sation.
Outstanding self-diagnosis
The analyser senses when it is neces-
sary to replace the dust filter or change
the reagent, and displays an appropriate
message on the color TFT screen. It
also monitors control of the extraction
furnace and the working of all parts, trig-
gering an alarm when things are not as
they should be. Alarm messages are dis-
played on the Screen, printed out and/or
output via RS-232C interface.
Time-saving mode/Interrupt mode
The EMGA is provided with a timesav-
ing mode to outgas the crucible in
advance so that the analysis can
proceed immediately the sample arrives.
It also features a special interrupt mode
which makes it possible to override the
pre-programmed sample sequence and
give priority to samples requiring urgent
analysis.
Easy operation
under windows software
With its priority on easy operation, the
instrumentation unit is operated under
windows software. The color TFT
screen gives direct display of analysis
results, analysis conditions, alarm mes-
sages and so forth.
Direct furnace monitoring
A quartz window is provided directly
above the sample inlet so that the opera-
tor can monitor the sample in the cruci-
ble. The window opens automatically
when heating starts and remains open
until it finishes, permitting the operator
to see the sample melting, generating
gas and so forth. This window facilitates
effective use of the manual power hold
function and other analysis methods
where changes in the sample have to be
watched.
When a high current is passed through a graphite crucible placed between the upper and lower electrodes of the
extraction furnace, the temperature of the crucible is increased rapidly by Joule heating. Raising the temperature
outgasses the crucible, and the sample is then introduced and the temperature increased again for thermal
decomposition. The O, N and H in the sample are carried to the detectors by the carrier gas in the forms of CO,
N
2 and H2 respectively. A non-dispersive infrared detector detects the CO and a thermal conductivity detector
the N
2. The detectors output a signal corresponding to the concentration of the gas detected. This signal is linear-
ised and integrated by a microprocessor and then blank corrected in accordance with the calibration curve and
corrected for sample weight. The resulting data is displayed as the measurement results.
