Tailored analysis for optimum precision
Precision control of extraction furnace
Control of the extraction furnace gov-
erns the analytical precision. The EMGA
features constant wattage control to
ensure stable extraction conditions and
precise control of the furnace. Tempera-
ture setting, where the furnace tempera-
ture is controlled indirectly by wattage
control, is also available.
Multistep slope power control
High precision wattage control makes
fine temperature-programmed analysis
possible over a full temperature range.
The EMGA features both the con-
ventional slope method, which links
initial and final values, and the multi-
step slope method, in which up to ten
slopes may be combined at will.
Furthermore the furnace control time
can be set at up to 999 seconds for a
continuous temperature adjustment
function.
Real-time temperature hold function
In addition to conventional sequential
analysis with preset analysis conditions,
HORIBA has made it possible for the
operator to hold the extraction tempera-
ture at will in accordance with extraction
peaks. Moreover, it is now possible to
detect extraction gas output at extrac-
tion peaks and automatically hold the
extraction temperature. Once the peak
disappears, the hold is released and the
extraction temperature is raised accord-
ing to the preset curve.
Temperature programmable pattern
memory function
With the automatic hold function, the
temperature rise pattern differs depend-
ing on the nature of the sample. It used
to be difficult to reproduce the exact
same temperature rise pattern. Howev-
er, HORIBA has added a function to
store the temperature rise pattern for
each temperature-programmed analy-
sis. This allows the reproduction of
exactly the same pattern time after time.
For example, you can now acquire sam-
ple blanks under exactly the same condi-
tions as sample analysis, expanding the
range of applications.
Peak level setting function
Peak detection provides the key to main-
taining and releasing the temperature
rise pattern when operated under the
automatic hold mode. Peak levels can
be freely set, so that peak detection in
trace analysis can be performed as well
as making it possible to ignore insignifi-
cant peaks in high concentration analy-
sis.
Multifunctional graphic printout
HORIBA monitors four parameters dur-
ing the analysis and displays them on a
colour screen. The parameters dis-
played are time, temperature, gas
extraction curve and a unique integra-
tion curve. This provides a rapid indica-
tion of the total amount of gas generat-
ed at selected times and allows the
operator to carry out integration at com-
pletely discretionary intervals. After
measurement is completed, an appro-
priate scale is automatically selected.
Graphical data can be printed out and is
easily switched to any time scale or gas
extraction scale desired. It is also possi-
ble to select only the necessary combi-
nations of data to meet specific purpos-
es.
